Chestnut
1958 CHESTNUT 16' RUNABOUT
Chestnut was an old Canadian Canoe company from New Brunswick established in the late 1890’s that at some point in the 1920’s had merged with Peterborough Canoes out of Ontario under the holding company Canadian Watercraft Limited. Each continued to maintain there own identity after the merger. At some point Peterborough grew to include row boats and runabouts and they decided to produce a Chestnut Runabout as well so simply rebranded one of their top of the line outboard boats as a Chestnut with some different details. Not many were made and by the mid 70’s they were no longer.
This boat was fully restored by us in 2012 and has very low hours. In 2023 it was brought back to us to sand and re-paint the bottom. (Updated bottom photos are #7-9 below)
