Introducing "Valentine," a 38' Kettenburg racing sailboat with a storied past and a vibrant present. Commissioned for the pioneering West Coast sailor Peggy Slater, Valentine earned her name when she was christened at the stroke of midnight on February 14th, 1954. This cherished vessel underwent a meticulous restoration between 2002 and 2005, ensuring her timeless beauty and performance.

Hull:

The entire hull was redone in 2004 by then owner John Free. The keelson was saturated with Smith's clear penetrating epoxy, as well as the ribs. He then glued the ribs to the keelson with epoxy. It was then painted white. Photos of the process are available.

Mast & Sails:

The mast is the original spruce mast, both the boom and mast had their components and the rigging rebuilt and made new in 2019. . Features a 2022 8.5oz Dacron Marblehead main sail, 2022 6.5oz Dacron 155% Genoa, 2015 Number 2, High cut foot number 3 for harbour sailing, Higher Cut number 4 storm sail and an asymmetrical custom fit 1.5oz spinnaker. All sails have sail bags and covers. 

Hardware:

New custom-made Harken 40 winches by Harken Italy, new fairleads, new mark IV roller furling system, an anchor, new IPIRB, new ICOM Radio with handheld, new compass  all deck cleats and custom tiller handle.

Interior:

Valentine features ample and well laid out storage, 2 couches , a V-berth for sleeping, closet, icebox, sink and new marine toilet. All cushions were replaced in 2020.

Engine:

Auxilliary power provided by a Universal 25HP 3 cylinder diesel engine that was rebuilt in 2021.

Options:

Included are a cover, fire extinguisher, fume detector, solar panel, 8 lifejackets, extra paint, varnish and other rebuild supplies.
