Rum Runner
1928 TRIPLE COCKPIT 28' RUNABOUT
Said to have been a prohibition era Northwest coast rum-runner. Since at least the 1940's it has been registered as a Garwood but the actual builder has not been confirmed. Two family ownership since the 1940's.
Hull:
Interesting construction - copper riveted bottom with double the typical number of frames (11" centers) possibly due to its intended original use, engine size and potential speed in rougher coastal waters. Fairly well documented and fascinating history in the Seattle and west coast area which we can send. Then in the late 40's was converted to a cabin style day boat which it remained until current restoration was initiated in 1999 to change back to a runabout style.
Engine:
Powered by a big block 535ci ford sea master marine engine with 275hp - rebuilt in 2010.
Hardware:
Beautiful workmanship and detailing using mostly authentic Garwood period hardware. Including a very rare optional Garwood radio.
