1955 SHEPHERD EXPRESS 27' RUNABOUT - The big Shepherds are one of todays most collectible big runabouts, often referred to as the 'Ultimate Cocktail Cruisers' they were built to cruise the big waters of the Great Lakes. Powered by twin Chrysler Marine 6 cylinder Crown Flathead engines in a V-Drive configuration they have plenty of room in the tastefully designed cockpits and set up for day cruising in style. Amenities include Sink, Ice Box and Gas stove in the cockpit area and a Head in the under-deck Cuddy which has a V-Berth.
Amazingly this particular Shepherd has had only 2 owners since 1955! Given to it's original owner on her graduation from University in the summer of 1955 it remained in her possession, well cared for, until 1997 when the current owner purchased it from her. Over the last near 20 years he has respectfully continued the up keep of the boat with a bent towards maintaining most of it's originality. It has had a recent refresh on the varnish and paint on the hull sides, installed new burgundy vinyl upholstery again in the original style. One engine block was replaced and any structural or other mechanical repairs done when needed. Kept most all of its life in boathouses in the summer and stored indoors in the winters. The current owner is looking to find it's next caretaker who will continue to preserve her for years to come.
